some pretty good responses. However what is the point of getting to the playoffs in the Eastern conference just to play the celtics or the cavaliers in the first round?

Sadly the pacers does not have the pieces that many of the following rebuilding teams already have:

OKC: Jeff Green, Durant, Westbrook
Grizzlies: Mayo, Gay, Marc Gasol
Portland: Oden, Roy, Aldridge, Outlaw, Fernandez (their list is endless)
Nets: Lopez, Yi Jialian, Devin Harris
Warriors: Ellis, Randolf, Morrow

to me, the pacers have as potential allstar in Granger, and all that is left is a bunch of starters that have been in the league a long time, all having reached their fullest potential.

Sadly i see the pacers (having bird's presence, a wonderful system nevertheless) staying at mediocrity along with the likes of Bucks, Bobcats

good enough to stay out of the top 5 in lottery, bad enough to always miss the playoff and not a big market so no marquee free agents.
