The Los Angeles Lakers have now won their 4th straight game of the preseason after opening up with two losses. The Charlotte Bobcats met the Lakers in San Diego for a match up that has been happening for years now.

The Lake Show came in and did work. Andrew Bynum had a great game with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists in just over 26 minutes. This was by far his best game of the preseason and a great sign of things to come.

Jordan Farmar also had a great game with 17 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in under 22 minutes. This was Jordan’s second consecutive great game. On Sunday, he dominated the Raptors for 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists in 24 minutes. Seems quite consistent! Should we be expecting high teens for scoring averages this season from Jordan?

John Hollinger had this to say in his 2008-2009 All Breakout Team article:

I’d have no reservations about making Farmar a breakout player if I knew he would start. He’s only 21, he’s a good athlete, he can shoot, he took a strong step forward last season, and his biggest shortcoming (a chronic inability to draw fouls) seems easily remedied. Unfortunately, the Lakers already have veteran starter Derek Fisher and probably won’t want to rock the boat; additionally, they’re talking about spotting Lamar Odom minutes at the point, too. All of which means Farmar must content himself with being a really, really good backup.

Unfortunately, tonight wasn’t all about fun. Kobe Bryant went down in the 2nd quarter with a knee injury that is yet to be determined in severity. Trainer Gary Vitti reported that Kobe experienced a hyper extended knee and no MRI was scheduled. Apparently Kobe has never suffered this injury and has never felt anything like it. Derek Fisher made sure to mention that Kobe would play in the season opener on Tuesday though!

We hope that he is fine adn the Bryant is available to play when he is needed. If the games continue along the lines of being as close as they have been recently, the individual guys are going to have to step up and get the job done.
