The Los Angeles Lakers have signed Dwayne Mitchell formerly of Lousiana Lafayette and the Iowa Energy.

Who is he? We really aren’t sure, but what we do know is that he’s good enough to get a contract this early into the summer with the top franchise in the league, that says something.

He is a 6’5″ guard and played for the 2008 Lakers Summer League team.

Of course, he’s not the answer to this team’s weaknesses and lack of attitude, but he sure can contribute some.

O yeah, and another fun fact, he spells his name correctly, not like Dwyane Wade, but like the real way, DWAYNE!

    His D-League stats: http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/index.jsp?player=dwayne_mitchell

Good numbers, but his PER is only 15.08. Nothing outstanding. Primary scorer on one of the league’s worst teams, but to get that many buckets on a squad that saw quite a few assignments from Miami and Chicago is pretty impressive.

Of course, the LAST thing you need is a scoring guard.
