Lakers At Full Strength
-
Wow! Only forty games into the season, the Lakers finally have played their first game with their full thirteen man roster in uniform.
The various Lakers injuries including Pau Gasol’s legs, Luke Walton’s back, Ron Artest’s head, Kobe’s fingers and back spasms, Sasha’s pulled hamstring, and various other minor injuries. Regardless of the extent of the injury, the team has struggled to show up to Staples and perform as a unit.
This night was different though.
Besides the fact that the Lakers finally had all their guys in uniform, it was a night of revenge. After losing to the lowly Clippers just a week and a half ago, it was time to reclaim the hallway series.
The starting lineup kept pace with the Clips early in the game. The bench struggled early in the second as the Clippers opened up a nine point lead. Thankfully, that didn’t last very long. The Lakers came firing back and blew the game open in the third quarter.
It was truly a beautiful game to watch as the Lakers blew the Clippers out by forty points, 126-86.
In my opinion, the key to this game was that the Lakers didn’t let off the gas. They were up by over thirty points when all the starters were done for the night. The bench really continued the momentum and opened the lead up to as many as forty-five points. It was truly a pleasure to watch.
Six players finished with double digits in the scoring column with only Luke Walton failing to score. Not to worry though, Sasha finished with ten points, including two three pointers, Shannon Brown hit five of his six free throws for eleven points, Jordan had five points, Mbenga had six points, and even Josh Powell hit a three pointer.
This game is by far the easiest to summarize: team effort.
The Lakers did a great job at setting the tempo, locking down on the defensive end in the second half, not forcing any shots, and running the triangle offense to perfection. They finally looked like the defending champions again and are clearly prepared for the test ahead of them.
With an eight game road trip ahead of them, the Lakers will be facing the East’s elite teams including the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics. Not to worry though, the Celtics are quite injury prone and the Cavaliers have the aging Shaq to disrupt their rhythm.
And, in case you haven’t seen yet, I have started preparing for the Boston Celtics match ups this season. We will play them January 31 in Boston and February 18 here at Staples Center. If you’re a true Lakers fan, you should also be a Celtics hater. Therefore, lets flood the city of LA with these great BUCK FOSTON Shirts!!!

Good to hear that the Lakers are fully healed. Kobe is a stud. He put up 30 last night with a bad back and broken finger. Let’s see Lebron do that!

I not saying that the lakers aren’t the team to beat, but lately the look very disorganized and really not like a team at all. which is uncommon for a phil jackson ball club. if the playoffs started today i’d have to say that the mavericks are head and shoulders above everyone right now. but the lakers are a different team in april. hit me up on rivalroo ill be on the lakers page
