The drama of MLB, NFL, Cyclying, Boxing, and every other sport in the world has made it’s way into the beloved National Basketball Association.

Rashard Lewis of the Orlando Magic has been suspended for ten games without pay for testing positive for higher levels than normal of testosterone.

The beauty of an event like this taking place in the NBA compared to the other leagues is the class of an NBA player. Lewis didn’t waste the time to point fingers at other people.

Lewis admitted to taking over the counter drugs and claims that he did not research them accurately enough to know the products contained in them and their effects.

“First and foremost I take full responsibility for the situation and accept the corresponding penalty,” Lewis said. “I apologize to Magic fans, my teammates and this organization for not doing the research that should come with good judgment. I hope every athlete can learn from my mistake that supplements, no matter how innocent they seem, should only be taken after consulting an expert in the field.”

Although Lewis faced up against my beloved Lakers and was the best player on his team, I can’t help but respect him that much more for the way he handled this event.

It takes a real man to take repsonsibility for your actions and I’m quite impressed by his judgement and his character. We could use some more Rashard Lewis’ in this league, of course without the substance abuse.
