Lamar Odom Remains A Laker
-
IT’S A DONE DEAL!!
The Lakers are back to being the overwhelming favorites to repeat as NBA Champions next season. You better go ahead and bet online for them to repeat. After acquiring Ron Artest earlier in the Summer the Lakers drama began.
Contract disputes between the Los Angeles Lakers and Lamar Odom lasted over a month.
Today however is a brighter day for Los Angeles fans as the Lakers have finally come to terms with LO7.
I’m glad that the games are overwith and Dwyane Wade’s non stop twitter spamming is over with. I’m proud to see Odom back in a Lakers jersey and can’t wait to see how he will match up with Artest this season.
According to ESPN, the contract spans over four years, with the fourth being a team option. The contract is a guaranteed $27 million, but if the Lakers pick up the fourth year option, then the contract will be worth $33 million.
I’d say this is a very nice deal considering the fact that Odom was looking for a four year $40 million deal and truthfully wasn’t quite worth that much. I’m glad that Mitch Kupchak and Jerry Buss were smart enough to wait this one out knowing perfectly well that Odom wouldn’t leave them for less money and a smaller chance of winning another title. Plus, I doubt his record company would do as well in Miami.
We will have plenty more to report on this topic in the near future but for now, enjoy the moment and prepare for contract extension talks between the Lakers and Kobe bryant.
