Vladimir Radmanovic Being Traded?

Is it true? Can this possibly be the end of the snowboarding space cadet?

There isn’t really much trade talk surrounding this, so I thought I’d be the first to burst the bubble.

Radmanovic started the first 20 games for the Lakers this season and has since played a total of 2 minutes, both in last night’s 98-86 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. By the way, for all of you statisticians out there, Vlade posted a 2 trillion last night as he closed out the first half for the Lakers.

This sudden change truly makes me wonder. What is going on with the team? For all the free agents that signed this summer with their new teams, December 15, yesterday, is the first day they are eligible to be traded. Guys like Corey Maggette for example that got big contracts and now the team feels that they don’t really want him anymore. Yes it happens, and for teams with bad GMs, it happens more often than to others.

With Radmanovic having a pretty good season from what I’d label it, he can actually be used as trade bait. Vlade makes $6 million for the next 3 seasons. His shooting is the best it’s been since he’s joined the Lakers.

Vladimir is averaging 7.5 point per game with 3.2 rebound per game and 1 assist in 20.6 minutes. His overall numbers are down but his shooting percentage is pretty damn good. Radmanovic is enjoying his highest shooting percentage season of his career shooting a whopping 47.5% from 3 point range. This is a pretty drastic improvement from his 40.6% last season.

Now here’s the theory. With Radmanovic playing so well and shooting seemingly lights out, is this the right time to give him away and move on as a franchise with a piece that can potentially help guide the Lakers to a championsihp. Has the first 20 games been used to put Vlade on display in front of the rest of the league just to make them salivate? Now that he has proven he can still play, perhaps its time to limit his minutes, develop interest, and shop him around without taking any chances of him injuring himself.

But who are we looking to acquire? What players can actually contribute to this team? Can we possibly be trying to make a move for Pau Gasol’s old buddy Mike Miller? How about Richard Jefferson? Raja Bell and Boris Diaw are rumored to be a short ways away from being shipped out again from Charlotte. I am interested to see how much truth there is to this but if a trade does go through, it will surely be for the short term, with a shorter contract, and give the Lakers more flexibility as we look to resign Trevor Ariza this offseason.

Please leave some ideas for trades of any Lakers player. Who will posisbly dealt and who would you like to see acquired?

The only player that i see that is within the salary space for the year is Stephen Jackson. He is able to take the ball to the rim and is a deadly 3 point shooter, even though he has been struggling this year. With Kobe and the cast of bigs on the floor he would have better shots on the kick out. He also brings toughness and a mean streak that the Lakers need. He is also 6’8″ and long and agile so he can better defend the prime time small forwards. He may not be able to stop Lebron or Peirce but he can stay with them.

Did some checking the Lakers could also make a move for Caron Butler again and Danny Granger.
