Just a day after writing about Maurice Cheeks losing his job in Philly, it’s time to report another coaching change.

The Sacramento Kings have fired Reggie Theus as the team has started off very poorly and management feels that the time has come to move on. Currently in 13th of 15th Western Conference teams, the Kings are looking to make some sort of change to get this season on a winning track.

With a record of 6-18 the Kings, in my opinion, are performing as expected. The team played well last season finishing 39-43 but let’s be realistic about it, they overexceeded all expectations. The Kings should not have played that well. This season is a more accurate representation of the team they have assembled.

Kevin Martin has been out for several games due to injuries and the age of Brad Miller is a big issue for this team going forward. It will be interesting to see if they will be able to find a replacement for him at anytime in the near future but a trade is surely on the way. The Kings have plenty of talent but need to time to develop it and also need to learn to spread their talent at different positions.

It looked as though Theus had a bit more job security after the Kings beat the Lakers this past Tuesday, but thats now out the window as they lost to the Lakers on Friday and were killed by the Knicks by 24 points.

I am sure that Reggie Theus will find himself another job in the league in the near future, unlike some of the coaches that were fired, but for now, the interim coach will be Kenny Natt.
