There is nothing worse than poor sportsmanship. As an athlete for many years I experienced the best feelings and I experienced the worst feelings.

As a Lakers fan I have experienced the best feelings, and I have experienced the worst feelings.

Sports however, are more than just emotion, they are ability, talent, discipline, dedication, and sportsmanship. They are everything that anything can possibly be all tied into one. The ultimate goal is to be the best, and the only way to be the best, is to beat the best.

The Boston Celtics have beat the worst, and they have beat the best. The Los Angeles Lakers, as Kobe Bryant cleverly put it, “were the 1st loser.” I am a dedicated Lakers fan and have been for years (the articles on this site should be enough evidence) however I must give credit to others when credit is due.

I have a very bittersweet taste in my mouth (mostly very bitter). I am extremely depressed that the Lakers have lost and that the 2008 season is over. Another trip to the NBA Finals, two wins short of a championship and nothing to show for it, besides pride of making it so far of course. I am very upset right now and don’t even want to think about basketball.

With that said, I’d like to congratulate the Boston Celtics franchise, but more importantly Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen. There have been times that us Lakers fans have made fun of the, talked shit about them, or referred to them in negative ways, but the bottom line is that they have heart. The end of this series is enough evidence of how badly KG and the boys wanted this title. It means the world to them and I’m very happy for them that they have finally achieved what they wanted for so long.

There is only one champion, and this year, the Boston Celtics are the NBA Champions. Congratulations!

The Celtics truly dismantled the Lakers. Kobe Bryant who was compared by many to Michael Jordan, no longer will have to worry about those comparisons to the great one because he is not even in the same stratosphere as him.

Found this website talking about how the Lakers are better set for the future than the Celtics. Pretty good read.

I wasn’t rooting for the Lakers, nor do I like the Lakers. But I was impressed that, even during the meltdown that had to be upsetting them, they showed sportsmanship. Helping guys up when they didn’t have to. No outbursts. And I’m going to go right back to hating the Lakers in 5 minutes, but if you’re going to go down by 39 points, that’s the way to do it….

Anyway, the Celtics were old and deserved it. I’m a Hornets blogger, and I see Hornets/Lakers shaping up to be big in the next few years. I don’t think the franchise has anything to feel bad about.

    We’ll see you.

Being from Philly, I would like to have seen Kobe win, but I thought the Lakers showed a lot of class that evening. The epitome of good sportsmanship. Boston on the other hand…I had to turn the game off.
