Lakers vs Spurs: Western Conference Finals
-
The San Antonio Spurs have defeated the New Orleans Hornets and have now advanced to the Western Conference Finals. The Spurs will be traveling to Los Angeles to face the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night in the first game of the series.
The Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs have faced each other four times with the Lakers winning three of the battles in the last decade. The Lakers last and most memorable run against the Spurs was in 2004 when the Lakers had a big group of Hall of Fame players that was defeated in the NBA Finals by the Detroit Pistons.
The now famous Derek Fisher shot with 0.4 seconds remaining in Game 5 of the 2004 Western Conference Finals is only five games away from being repeated. I’m not going to lie though, I’m hoping all the games are big blowouts and I won’t have to be as stressed as I was during the Jazz series.
This is going to be a great match up and I will be breaking down the details in the coming days.

The spurs will definitely be annihilated by the LAKERS because of the one and only chosen one….KOBE…..BRYANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To be the champs, you have to beat the champs.
Also, the first analytical thing that came to my mind is that unless Phil and Kobe, for some arbitrary defense, decide to put Kobe on Bowen, Kobe can not afford to be a center fielder as he had been allowed to do against the Jazz and the the Nuggets as essentially anyone that Kobe matches up with will be a potent 3 point shooter.

You clown, Kobe cannot win without Shaq, until he proves otherwise, he is just another great player that cannot lead his team to the promise land

Well all I can say is MVP,MVP,MVP.Until the Spurs or anyone else can find a way to stop Kobe, the Lakers will have a feel day in this series.I pick the Lakers in 6 games.Lakers will take the first 2.Then San Antinio will in 2 at their place. But like they did against Utah,Lakers will win the last 2!Not only Kobe, but the Lakers just have a better team than last year, with an upgrdae 2 Fisher better than Parker.Farmer has improved his outside shot even though he struggled vs Utah but I think will bounce back. And Sasha who is playing at a very high level.Plus the Lakers have a much longer team then when the hornets played them.San Antonio has to worry about 3 weapons Odom,Gasol, and Bryant.Lastly the Lakers are leading the league in most points scored. And my ol model is good offense always win over good defenense.

This should be a great series. I think it will go the distance. There are interesting match-ups all over the place. It’s going to fun to see the chess match between Popovich and Jackson to try and create match-up problems. I think we will see physical but high scoring games. As you saw on my site I thnik the Spurs take it in 7, curious to see what you think.
