I’m not a Sonics fan, and I have no plans on becoming one in the near future.

I am a fan of basketball.

I am a fan of history.

I am a fan of memorable moments.

I am a fan of Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, that one guy with the name I can’t pronounce “Shremp?” and George Karl.

I am a fan of all those fans who go out to the games on a nightly basis and cheer for the team in their hometown.

I am a fan of the people that have respect for the players that go out their and work their butts off every night just so that they know their hard work is appreciated.

I am a fan of tradition.

In this case, the tradition is for the Seattle fans to stop by Key Arena to cheer on their favorite team, win or lose, playoffs or lottery, year after year. Real fans are hard to find. Real fans are harder to keep. The Seattle Sonics have found their real fans, they have kept their real fans, and they are a team that the fans deserve to keep.

SonicsCentral has put together a “Save the Sonics” site and my heart goes out to them.

Why not move the Clippers who have been in the shadow of the Lakers for so many years? Why?

It’s simple, because the fans deserve to keep their team. I’m not a Clippers fan, but those that have stuck with the team for all these years deserve to keep their team and cheer them on like no other every 27 years when they make the playoffs.

Moving the Sonics would be simply disrespectful, unclassy, and distasteful. Give the fans what they deserve, build them a new state of the art arena, give them some new jerseys, and for god’s sake, get Kevin Durant some help!!!
