Recent rumors have been published stating that Shaq has been traded to the Phoenix Suns!!!

Yes, I put three exclamation points at the end of that statement because it thrills me. It truly makes me extremely happy! Shawn Marion in the eastern conference on a team that really doesn’t matter anymore this season? PERFECT! Useless grandpa Shaq in the same division as the Lakers? PERFECT!

The Suns believe that adding Shaq will allow them to compete with the Los Angeles Lakers. Is Steve Kerr out of his mind? With all due respect to Mr. Kerr, who has been a great influence in the NBA in so many different ways, I believe he is a bit delusional. He is willing to trade away the player of the game for the Suns 2/3 games against the Lakers for an over rated, over weight Shaq who can’t even lead a team with Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem into a double digit win season??

Shawn Marion stats in the first three games against the Lakers this season:

    1) 14 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 blocks – Phoenix loss by 21

    2) 15 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steal – Phoenix loss by 7

    3) 20 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 1 block – Phoenix win by 8

What does this mean? The better Shawn Marion does, the better the Phoenix Suns do against the Lakers.

There is really only one opinion that I can put together out of all this information. Shaq for once makes a team worse than they are before his appearance. The Phoenix Suns are a quick run-n-gun team with a motto of “7 seconds” and Shaq’s presence doesn’t exactly stick to their philosophy. Shaq can no longer run the way he did when he was younger and simply cannot keep up with Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire, Leandro Barbosa, Grant Hill, Raja Bell, or even the other overweight Phoenix Sun, Boris Diaw.

I, as a Lakers fan, look forward to the arrival of Shaq in the dessert and hope that the Western Conference can make this the most amazing playoffs ever. I can’t wait to see the various seven game series between the Suns and Lakers, or even the Mavs and Lakers, or even the Spurs and Lakers while we’re at it.
