Los Angeles Lakes Sweep Nuggs
-
For the first time since the 2002-2003 season, the Lakers have managed to sweep the Denver Nuggets. All three wins have been quite convincing and show that a first round match-up would be heavily in the Lakers favor. The box scores were great with Derek Fisher truly stepping up as a veteran when he recognized that Kobe wasn’t going to even get a shot up.
Kobe finished with 11 assists, his season high, and Fisher led the team in scoring with 28. Jordan stepped up as well and buried a few shots on the offensive end while Ronny secured the paint on the defensive end and didn’t allow for too many easy shots. Every point the Nuggets scored was hard earned and well executed.
With Ronny crashing the boards as he did, the Nuggets rarely picked up offensive rebounds. On the offensive end however, the Lakers had an ample amount of second chance opportunities as this young team’s energy highly paid off. It was refreshing to see Kwame play half decently with fewer turnovers and more dunks. He finished when he was expected to and although he rushed the play a few times, he was somewhat calm and collective. I suppose the fans not booing him helped a bit.
The Spurs, Mavs and Cavs are coming up next for the Lakers, I look forward to a great week of basketball.
